A Bag-full of Hope at Session Road in Bloom

The Cordillera Network of NGOs (CORDNET) will once again host PEF´s participation in this years Panagbenga Festival in Baguio City. During the “Session Road in Bloom” which will be held from February 26 to March 4, 2007, the PEF and CORDNET will showcase products from different parts of Luzon particularly from the Bicol region.

A “Bag-Full of Hope” booth for the collection of donations for the disaster-stricken Albay school children, who are still recovering from last year´s calamitous mudslides, will be set up. The booth will receive donations such as school bags, schools uniforms and school shoes. PEF will be giving out postcards in exchange for any donation. These postcards can be free-mailed by the donor to their family and friends or redeemed for pre-selected Bicol products as livelihood assistance to the people of Albay.

CORDNET is one of PEF´s regional partnership and access center and has been hosting PEF´s participation in this festival since 2004. This participation has always been anchored on promoting community livelihood initiatives from PEF´s 28 priority provinces. This year, participation is centered on the collection drive for Albay school children.

PEF works in partnership with civil society organizations such as people´s organizations, cooperatives, faith-based groups, other non-government organizations and similar entities that serve the struggling households in the poorest communities.
