PEF and partners bring Christmas cheer to Albay children
The Peace and Equity Foundation (PEF) with the help of its local partners, recently held a Christmas celebration with some 400 children of Albay province who were recently devastated by typhoons Milenyo and Reming that killed hundreds while leaving countless others homeless.
Together with the Alternative Systems for Community Development (ASCODE), St. Aquinas University, and the Social Action Center (SAC) - Legazpi and Albay Provincial NGO-PO Network for Development (ALPRODEV), a 2-day relief operation and Christmas celebration were held with children from Brgy. Mabugos, Guinobatan and Brgy. Tagas, Daraga last December 28-29, 2006. The main celebrations held parlor games, classic clown-magic tricks and was capped by a film showing that delighted both the young and old. The kids were also given presents such sweets and sets of school supplies.
Though the devastating effects of the typhoons are still evident in the area, these activities brought cheer and goodwill to the children which were the most affected by the calamities. The hardy folks of Albay remain very optimistic about their future and resolute in rising once again amidst the natural calamities that befell them.
